Appendix B - Setting up MacWoof with MS-DOS based mailers/routers
We have tested MacWoof with the following mailers/packers and have put together a short guide for configuring them based on our and our testers experiences. When in doubt, read the documentation for the mailer you are using.
General Notes:
What the boss system needs to do is to put outbound NetMail/EchoMail into either a packet files or ARCMail bundles on hold for MacWoof. Currently, ARC is the only compressor that MacWoof supports for packed mail files. MacWoof follows the FTSC recommended naming conventions for both the packets it creates to send to the boss node as well as for the packets it receives from the boss. Additionally, MacWoof also recognizes Tabby style GroupMail bundles.
BinkleyTerm 2.40/2.50
With BinkleyTerm, the normal way to handle points is through the use of a “Privatenet” list. The Privatenet (also referred to as Pointnets) numbers are issued by the Zone coordinators in FidoNet. Several of the individual nets in FidoNet maintain a Pointnet for the convenience of their member nodes. In any case, whether the boss has applied for and gotten his own Pointnet number or is using one established by his local net, he needs to be sure to include a Privatenet command line in his BINKLEY.CFG file. If it isn’t there, Binkley will be unable to send mail to the point, even though it can receive mail from the point.
Additionally, MacWoof utilizes SEALink Overdrive at speeds of 9600 baud or faster so the boss operator should not have a NOSLO command line in his BINKLEY.CFG.
Ommm
If using Ommm under DOS, you basically set it up to remark any continuous packets destined for the point to be put into an ARCMail bundle and that bundle put on “hold” for the point to pick up. Basically the commands in the OMMM.CTL file are:
UNCM privatenet/pointnumber
ARCHOLD privatenet/pointnumber
Example:

Connecting up EchoMail for the point
Basically, the boss operator will need to add the point to the appropriate lines in his AREAS.BBS file (or equivalent) for each of the echoes the point is to receive. If the boss is running AreaFix, he should be sure to add the point to his AREAFIX.CTL file and issue an AreaFix password to the point along with info on how to use AREAFIX.
